A long distance cycle route linking the North and South Downs Ways.

Terrain details: The path is not tarmac but, as it runs on the bed of an old railway line, it is firm and generally well drained. There is a continuing programme of maintenance. The surface is mainly compacted stone. After rain you will find puddles at various places, some isolated, some in a series over a stretch of path. These form at low spots or in areas where there is a dense overhang of trees. It is very rare for the rain to be heavy enough for these puddles to cause you a major inconvenience. The width of the path varies, from a minimum of around 1.5 metres up to 4 metres of so. There is more encroachment of vegetaion in the summer.
